Red Sox To Attempt To Retain Xander Bogaerts?
2 years agoBoston Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom said that the team will try to retain shortstop Xander Bogaerts. "That process is going to start right away from our end. We haven't found that path yet. We still want to. We're going to work really hard at it," Bloom said. Bogaerts is fully expected to opt out of the final three years and $60 million on his deal to become a free agent this winter, but the Red Sox will be trying to keep him around after he hit .307/.377/.456 with an .833 OPS, 15 home runs, 73 RBI, 84 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 557 at-bats this year. If Bogaerts reaches the open market, he'll be one of the most coveted players available heading into the 2023 season.
