1 year agoThe Boston Red Sox are one of many teams interested in Japanese free-agent left-hander Shota Imanaga this offseason. It's no secret that the Red Sox are in need of starting pitching heading into the 2024 campaign. They are also in on free-agent starters Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Jordan Montgomery and Seth Lugo, among others, and they could be in the trade market for a pitcher like Chicago White Sox right-hander Dylan Cease. The 30-year-old Imanaga was recently posted by the DeNA BayStars of Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan. He's more of a consolation prize for teams that lose out on the Yamamoto sweepstakes. Imanaga has upside as more of a mid-rotation starter in the big leagues after posting a strong 2.66 ERA and 1.02 WHIP with 188 strikeouts and only 24 walks in 159 innings in 2023.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
