Red Sox Interested In Ha-Seong Kim?
1 year agoBoston Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow said the team is currently engaged in conversations for a second baseman in free agency and the trade market, but it seems "more likely that would be a trade pursuit." Boston prefers a strong defensive second baseman, which makes Ha-Seong Kim, Whit Merrifield and Brandon Drury more likely targets than Gleyber Torres or Jonathan India. Kim was a Gold Glover in 2023 and can also play shortstop and third base in a pinch. The 28-year-old Korean was also great offensively for the San Diego Padres this past season in what was a breakout campaign, as he hit .260/.351/.398 with career-highs in home runs (17), RBI (60), stolen bases (38) and runs scored (84) in 152 games in his third year in the majors. It remains to be seen if the Padres would be serious about moving Kim, who has been a positive influence in SD's locker room.
