Red Sox Decline Option On Martin Perez
4 years agoThe Boston Red Sox declined their $6.85 million 2021 option on left-handed pitcher Martin Perez on Sunday, making him a free agent. Perez will instead receive a $500,000 buyout. The 29-year-old southpaw went 3-5 with a 4.50 ERA in his 12 starts during the shortened season, striking out 46 and walking 28 in 68 innings in his first season in Beantown. Perez had a $6 million salary this year, which was reduced to $2,222,222 in prorated pay. Perez, outfielders Jackie Bradley Jr and Rusney Castillo and right-hander Collin McHugh also became free agents.
