Rasmus Sandin Inks Five-Year Extension With Capitals
9 months agoThe Washington Capitals and defenseman Rasmus Sandin have agreed to a five-year, $23 million contract extension. The deal comes just one day before his 24th birthday as Sandin was scheduled to be a restricted free agent at season's end. "I'm very excited," Sandin said. "I'm very happy it got done at this time too, even though we have a lot of time left to work with. But very happy it got done and very excited to be here for ultimately five more years. The Swede was acquired by the Capitals on Feb. 28, 2023 from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for defenseman Erik Gustafsson and a first-round pick. He has three goals and 20 points on 66 shots across 52 games in his first full season with the Capitals.
