Rashaad Penny Has A Chance To Start Right Away
7 years agoSeattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny, who the team drafted 27th overall in the first round, will have a chance to contribute right away as the team's lead back. They won't just hand the job to him, however, and he'll have to compete with Chris Carson for touches. After taking Penny in the first round, Seattle's coaching staff said multiple times that they view him as a three-down back in the NFL. Penny doesn't have the prototypical size to be an NFL bell-cow back, and he didn't particularly excel in pass protection in college either, so it's a curious pick for the Seahawks. However, they are looking to inject some life into their backfield, and Penny will surely get his chances. Penny will be a popular dynasty/keep pick, but don't expect too much out of him right away in his rookie season, even if Seattle doesn't have a plethora of options in their backfield to compete with him.
