Rangers Call Up Steele Walker
3 years agoThe Texas Rangers recalled outfielder Steele Walker from the minors on Sunday and optioned Andy Ibanez in a corresponding move. Walker is expected to make his major league debut for the Rangers against Seattle Mariners right-hander George Kirby on Sunday. A day after the team called up infield prospect Ezequiel Duran, Walker will get his shot. The 25-year-old isn't listed among the Rangers top-30 prospects, per MLB Pipeline, but he was hitting .297/.395/.487 with an .882 OPS, three home runs, nine RBI, 15 runs scored and two stolen bases in 20 games for Triple-A Round Rock. The left-handed hitter should see pretty regular playing time against right-handed pitching and is worth a flier in deep mixed and AL-only leagues.
