Raimel Tapia Keeps Hitting
6 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia was the only member of the team to record more than one hit on Saturday against the Phillies. Tapia wasn't able to turn either single into a run scored as the Rockies lost, but he pulled his batting average up to .302 on the season and hit safely for the seventh time in the last eight games that he's started. Tapia is still officially in competition with Ian Desmond and David Dahl for playing time, but his performance has earned him five starts in the last seven days. His underlying numbers show some small spots of concern, like the fact that he's striking out 30% of the time and his BABIP is quite high, but his tendency to put the ball on the ground and his speed should help defend against too much regression on that front. For now, it looks like Tapia is a solid candidate for deep fantasy teams.
