4 years agoThe Las Vegas Raiders select Alabama offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood with the No. 17 overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft on Thursday night. Many analysts were shocked by this pick. He may be more of a guard on the inside at the next level. The Raiders already have Kolton Miller to play left tackle, so Leatherwood is unlikely to play on the quarterback Derek Carr's blind side. Because Leatherwood has struggled in pass protection, he makes much more sense as a guard for the Raiders. He's definitely not a sure bet as a first-rounder, but if the Raiders staff can coach him up, he could become a solid interior offensive lineman.
