Rafael Devers Will Not Play First Base This Weekend
Rafael Devers will not play first base for the club in a series against the Boston Red Sox this weekend, Julian McWilliams of CBS Sports reports. Devers, acquired in a shocking blockbuster trade with the Red Sox last weekend, has never played first in the majors since debuting in 2017. However, that will be the 28-year-old's defensive position with the Giants when they feel he's ready for it. The longtime third baseman has not played the field at all this year, instead working solely as a DH. Devers is slashing an excellent .272/.401/.498 with 15 home runs and 59 RBI over 347 plate appearances, and he'll gain even more fantasy value when he starts playing first.
