Quinnen Williams 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Coming Off Breakout Season With High Efficiency
1 year agoNew York Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams is coming off a huge breakout season, and he looks to continue to improve going into his fifth year. Williams placed No. 11, with 12.0 sacks, while mainly rushing from the interior. Only Chris Jones had more sacks as a defensive tackle. Williams is the rare defensive tackle who is still a valuable starter in the DL spot in IDP leagues. He's even more valuable in position-specific leagues that require managers to start a DT. Williams' breakout resulted from both an increase in volume and efficiency. He had more snaps as both a pass rusher and run defender than any previous season. He pressured the quarterback on 12.4% of his pass rushes, more than in his last seasons, and converted 25.0% of his pressures into sacks. His sack-to-pressure rate is so high it might be challenging to repeat. But if it decreases to closer to his career sack-to-pressure rate of 21.5%, he would still be close to making double-digit sacks. His missed tackle rate last season was one point higher than his career number, so he could see some positive regression in tackles.
