Pirates Offered Bryan Reynolds Franchise-Record Deal
2 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates offered to make outfielder Bryan Reynolds the highest-paid player in team history by total money, which means more than third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes' $70 million deal. It's saying something, but Reynolds also has more service time than Hayes and is a more accomplished big-league player. Despite the offer, Reynolds reportedly requested a trade on Saturday. The 27-year-old has been in the middle of trade rumors for the last two years, but the Pirates apparently have no plans to accommodate Reynolds' wish to be shipped out of town. Reynolds remains arbitration-eligible for the next two seasons and hit .262/.345/.461 with an .807 OPS, career-high 27 home runs, 62 RBI, 74 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 542 at-bats in the 2022 season.
