The Pittsburgh Pirates selected La Mirada High School pitcher Jared Jones with the 44th overall pick in the second round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. Jones was a two-way star in high school, but his future in the big leagues is on the mound. He has a big arm and can get his fastball into the upper-90s, while also flashing a hard slider. As a young power pitcher, though, the 18-year-old has shown inconsistent command, so he'll need to clean that up at the next level. He's not big a 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, but he's strong and athletic on the mound. Jones was committed to Texas before the draft.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
