Phillies, Mets To Attend Cole Hamels' Showcase
3 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets plan to attend free-agent starting pitcher Cole Hamels' showcase this Friday. One hundred and 114 of Hamels' 163 regular season wins have come with the Phillies, and he also was named the 2008 NLCS and 2008 World Series MVP with Philadelphia. A reunion at the end of his career with the Phils would be pretty cool. The Mets starting rotation has been great in 2021, but they are still looking for help. The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will reportedly have scouts at the session, too. The 37-year-old left-hander has made just one start since 2020, but he could provide valuable innings for a contender in the second half of the season. Near the end of his career, Hamels would likely be only a low-upside, matchup-based play in deeper leagues and DFS if he gets signed.
