Peyton Barber 2020 Outlook: Running Back Depth In An Extremely Crowded RB Room
5 years agoThere's not very much at all to like about Peyton Barber's 2020 situation after he signed a two-year, $3 million deal with the Redskins. Barber's arrow was already pointing down after posting a career-low 3.1 yard-per-carry average on 154 totes in his final season in Tampa. By season's end, he was clearly the No. 2 behind second-year back Ronald Jones II. Despite being only 26 years old, the former undrafted back out of Auburn has very little upside left after averaging just 3.6 yards per carry on 551 carries in his four seasons. In his new home in D.C. he's buried on the depth chart behind future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson, Derrius Guice, Bryce Love, rookie Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic. It would take a lot of things to fall Barber's way for him to find a fantasy relevant role again in Washington's rebuilding offense. He'll be left to the early season waiver wire in most formats.
