Patriots Interested In Drafting Blue-Chip Back
2 years agoThe Athletic's Jeff Howe writes that the New England Patriots have quietly shown interest in adding another blue-chip back in this year's draft as they build their running game around Rhamondre Stevenson. There are really only two blue-chip backs in this year's draft in Texas' Bijan Robinson (projected first-rounder) and Alabama's Jahmyr Gibbs, who is projected to be a top-40 pick. So if the Pats indeed are serious about adding one of them, they'll have to take them early on. New England has the 14th overall pick later this month, which could be prime territory to select Robinson. Gibbs obviously would make a lot of sense after working with Pats new offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien in college. Stevenson's fantasy value would take a hit if the Pats selected Robinson or Gibbs early in the draft.
