Patrick Marleau Leads Leafs With Two-Goal Night
7 years agoThirty-eight-year-old Toronto Maple Leafs forward Patrick Marleau scored twice in Monday’s Game 3 win over the Boston Bruins. His first goal reinstated Toronto’s lead early in the second frame, re-directing a perfectly placed pass from linemate Mitch Marner. Marner also found Marleau with a stretch pass on a counter attack late in the game. Marleau beat Tukka Rask with a wrist shot under the glove. With Tomas Plekanec’s promotion to the second line, Marleau was able to slide back to the wing, a position with which he has much more experience. The line played well Monday, shutting down the top unit for Boston every chance they got. The goals were Marleau’s first two points of the postseason. You shouldn’t expect him to score every night, but he’ll continue to see chances playing alongside Marner.
