Patrick Mahomes to Play First Quarter in Preseason Game
Patrick Mahomes will play the first quarter in the team's preseason opener on Saturday against the Arizona Cardinals. The Kansas City Star's Sam McDowell would be surprised if Mahomes plays the entire quarter with the starters. The six-time Pro Bowler, two-time MVP and three-time Super Bowl champion finished as the QB12 in fantasy in 2024, his lowest finish in his seven full seasons in the league. Mahomes threw for 3,928 yards, his lowest yardage total in his seven full seasons, while also tossing 26 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions in 16 regular-season starts. He came on strong towards the end of the year, but KC's lack of a downfield passing attack really hurt Mahomes. The 29-year-old is now more of a midrange QB1 fantasy target, but he could bounce back with Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown healthy and if the offense can rediscover their downfield explosiveness.
