Jets Interest In Odell Beckham Jr. "Very Real"
1 day agoThe New York Jets' interest in free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is "very real," according to sources. Beckham and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers are close and have discussed playing together in New York. And with the Jets trading Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday, there is an opening in New York. OBJ tore his left ACL in the Super Bowl with the Rams in February of 2022 and didn't play at all in 2023. The 30-year-old looked great for the Rams in the postseason that year, but it remains to be seen how effective he'll be after a full year off. The Jets shipped Moore away, but they still have Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman and Corey Davis, so Beckham could struggle for consistent targets if he lands in New York.Source: SNY - Connor Hughes
Brandon Powell Joining Vikings
2 days agoThe Minnesota Vikings have signed wide receiver Brandon Powell to a one-year contract. This deal makes sense considering Powell played under Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell while the two were in Los Angeles during the 2021 campaign. The 27-year-old opened up last season as a special teamer, but quickly found his way into more work. Powell saw reps as both a wide receiver and running back with the Rams last season. He finished with 24 receptions for 156 yards with an additional 80 yards on the ground. It's likely that he plays a similar role with the Vikings this upcoming season. However, there probably won't be a big enough role for Powell to hold fantasy value.Source: Adam Schefter
Patriots Re-Sign Jalen Mills
2 days agoThe New England Patriots have re-signed defensive back Jalen Mills on Wednesday. The two sides have agreed on a one-year contract worth up to $6.1 million for the 2023 season. The organization released Mills earlier this offseason, which saved the team $5 million in cap space. Now, the two sides come together again with what is likely a heavy incentive based contract. Mills recorded 31 tackles and two interceptions in 10 games with the Patriots last season. He's a quality defensive back, so this is a nice move by the Pats.Source: Adam Schefter
Texans Sign Denzel Perryman
2 days agoThe Houston Texans have signed linebacker Denzel Perryman on Wednesday. The veteran linebacker met with the organization last week and clearly liked what they said. The two sides have come to an agreement on a one-year deal for the upcoming season. Perryman was limited to 12 games last season due to injuries. However, he earned himself a Pro Bowl selection in 2021 with a 154-tackle season. The addition of Perryman is a huge upgrade for the Texans defense.Source: Ian Rapoport
Foster Moreau Stepping Away From Football
2 days agoFree-agent tight end Foster Moreau has decided to step away from the game on Wednesday. The 25-year-old announced that he has been diagnosed Hodgkin's Lymphoma, while undergoing a routine physical from the New Orleans Saints medical team. This is a shame considering Moreau was likely to claim a starting role for himself somewhere this offseason. However, his health is more important, so hopefully he can get through this and get back to playing football at some point.Source: ESPN
Austin Hooper Heading To Vegas
2 days agoAccording to NFL Media's Mike Garafolo, the Raiders reached a one-year deal with free-agent tight end Austin Hooper. The contract will pay him $2.75 million, although he'll have a shot to earn $3.5 million. The two-time Pro Bowler has compiled 339 catches for 3,468 yards and 25 touchdowns during his career. However, he struggled in 17 games with the Titans last season, finishing with a career-low two touchdowns. The Raiders moved on from Darren Waller, so Hooper will have a chance to regain his footing in Las Vegas alongside new signal-caller Jimmy Garoppolo.Source: Mike Garafolo
Elijah Moore Dealt To Cleveland
2 days agoAccording to ESPN's Rich Cimini, the Jets traded wide receiver Elijah Moore to the Browns on Wednesday. The 2021 second-round pick finished his inaugural year by amassing 43 catches for 538 yards and five touchdowns. As a result, he drew plenty of interest from fantasy managers heading into last season. However, he struggled during the 2022-23 campaign and became openly vocal regarding his role in the offense, resulting in a trade request. But now that Moore is in Cleveland, his presence may decrease the production of Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and David Njoku. Yet, Deshaun Watson could flourish with extra artillery at his disposal.Source: Rich Cimini
Mecole Hardman Agrees To One-Year Deal With Jets
2 days agoAccording to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, free-agent wide receiver Mecole Hardman has agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Jets. The 25-year-old could earn up to $6.5 million, and it comes after he finished the 2022-23 campaign by amassing 25 catches for 297 yards and four touchdowns. In all fairness, he was limited to just eight games because of a groin injury. Outside of health concerns, Hardman must compete with Garrett Wilson, Corey Davis, and former Packer Allen Lazard for targets during the season. As a result, he may not be a consistent fantasy contributor. Uncertainty at the quarterback position is another thing that could limit Hardman's production, but that problem should be solved somewhat if the Jets add a reliable signal-caller.Source: Eric Edholm
D'Ernest Johnson Signs With Jaguars
2 days agoFormer Cleveland Browns running back D'Ernest Johnson agreed to a one-year deal to join the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 27-year-old running back has rushed 141 times for 738 yards and three touchdowns during his four-year career in Cleveland. Johnson impressed in limited action in the absence of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt in 2021, but he shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a depth piece for the Jags in 2023. He will backup Travis Etienne and JaMycal Hasty, so unless one of those two backs misses time, he won't be on the fantasy radar. Jerome Ford looks to be the No. 2 running back for the Browns with Johnson and Hunt out of town.Source: Adam Schefter
Panthers Meet With C.J. Stroud
2 days agoOhio State quarterback C.J. Stroud met with the Panthers Tuesday ahead of his Pro Day on Wednesday. Carolina traded with Chicago to acquire the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and many assume Stroud is the signal-caller the franchise is targeting at that spot. Stroud posted 8,123 passing yards, 85 passing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in two years as the Buckeyes' trigger-man. The Panthers will seemingly decide between Stroud, Bryce Young, and Anthony Richardson to lead their franchise in the coming years. The team gave up a slew of future picks and wide receiver DJ Moore to move up, so surely, they know which QB they like the most.Source: Tom Pelissero
Jaxon Smith-Njigba Runs 4.53 Unofficial Forty
2 days agoOhio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba opted not to run the 40-yard dash at the 2023 NFL combine in Indianapolis. However, he ran a 4.53 unofficial 40-time at OSU's Pro Day on March 22. Smith-Njigba posted a 99th-percentile agility score at the combine, which more than makes up for the lack of sub-4.5 speed. The former Buckeye caught 95 passes for 1,606 yards and nine touchdowns sharing a field with Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave in 2021 but played in just three games during his 2022 junior season because of injury. He is viewed No. 1 wide receiver prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft class by many and will be a top-five selection in rookie dynasty drafts.Source: James Palmer
DeAndre Hopkins Not On Browns' Radar
2 days agoArizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is reportedly on the trade block, and his market is seemingly heating up as the league approaches the third week of free agency. However, the Cleveland Browns, who have been rumored to be interested in reuniting Hopkins with Deshaun Watson, are reportedly not among the teams targeting the perennial Pro Bowler. Cleveland seems to be interested in Jerry Jeudy, so they could be active in the wideout trade market this offseason. According to Josina Anderson, Hopkins is not on their radar, though. Hopkins caught 64 passes for 717 yards and three touchdowns in nine games last season.Source: Josina Anderson
Russell Wilson Expected To Be Fine For OTAs
2 days agoDenver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, a procedure to fix an issue that had nagged him for a few seasons, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Wilson is already working out and throwing, so he's fully expected to be ready to go for offseason team activities and Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season. Wilson is coming off his worst season in the NFL, throwing for just 16 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. Perhaps the knee clean-up will help his mobility next season under new Broncos' head coach Sean Payton.Source: Ian Rapoport
Cardinals Agree With L.J. Collier On One-Year Deal
3 days agoThe Arizona Cardinals agreed to terms with defensive lineman L.J. Collier and cornerback Antonio Hamilton Sr. on undisclosed one-year deals on Tuesday. Exclusive-rights free-agent defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter also signed his one-year tender. Collier played in a career-low eight games (zero starts) in his fourth season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022 due to injury, and he finished with just seven tackles (three solo). The 27-year-old first-rounder in 2019 has accumulated 40 tackles (24 solo), three sacks, six tackles for loss, 13 QB hits and five passes defensed in 45 career games (16 starts) over his four NFL seasons.Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss
Cowboys To Re-Sign Dante Fowler To One-Year Deal
3 days agoThe Dallas Cowboys will re-sign defensive end Dante Fowler to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday, according to a person with knowledge of the signing. The former third overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015 finished with 27 tackles (22 solo), six sacks, seven tackles for loss, nine QB hits and two forced fumbles in 17 regular season games (no starts) in his first year in Big D in 2022. The 28-year-old played only 329 defensive snaps as a rotation pass-rusher for Dallas next to DeMarcus Lawrence, Dorance Armstrong and Micah Parsons. Expect Fowler to be used in a similar fashion on defense in 2023, which will make him a boom/bust fantasy asset in IDP leagues.Source: Dallas Morning News - Calvin Watkins
