Xavier Edwards Returning on Saturday
Xavier Edwards (wrist) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers. Edwards is returning from being held out of the lineup for six straight games. However, he came in off the bench during Friday's game and went 2-for-3 at the plate. He appears to be fully healthy and ready to contribute again. Edwards will cover second base and bat third against right-hander Jack Leiter on Saturday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly and get Edwards back in their lineups ahead of first pitch.

Lars Nootbaar Not in Lineup on Saturday
Lars Nootbaar isn't in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Alec Burleson will take his place in left field and hit third versus right-hander Chad Patrick, while Nolan Gorman will play first base and bat sixth. This has been a rough September for Nootbaar, who has struggled to a .222/.290/.328 line with one extra-base hit (a double), four RBI, and 10:5 K:BB in 16 games. The 28-year-old has offered better production than that this season, though he has still hit a mediocre .237/.325/.368 with 13 homers, 48 RBI, 66 runs scored, and four steals over 557 plate appearances.

Sean Newcomb Placed on 15-Day Injured List
Sean Newcomb (elbow) on the 15-day injured list with elbow inflammation and recalled righty Scott McGough from Triple-A Las Vegas. Newcomb's season will end early, but he was an excellent buy-low pickup for the Athletics after they acquired him from the Boston Red Sox for cash considerations in late May. After opening the season as a starter for the Red Sox, Newcomb worked exclusively from the A's bullpen and put up a 1.75 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and 50:14 K:BB in 51 1/3 innings. Between the two teams, the 32-year-old combined for 92 1/3 frames and recorded a 2.73 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP, 91 strikeouts, and 31 walks.

Max Muncy Activated From 10-Day Injured List
Max Muncy (hand) from the 10-day injured list and placed second baseman Zack Gelof (shoulder) on the 10-day IL with a dislocated left shoulder. Muncy is returning after missing two months with a fractured right hand. Before landing on the shelf on July 22, the 23-year-old rookie hit .215/.258/.385 with nine homers, 23 RBI, and 17 runs scored across 59 games and 213 plate appearances. Defensively, Muncy has divided his time between second and third. He's out of the starting lineup on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, though, with Darell Hernaiz playing second and Brett Harris handling the hot corner.

Seiya Suzuki Out of Lineup on Saturday
Seiya Suzuki is sitting on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. Willi Castro will play right field and hit eighth in a meeting with right-hander Zack Littell, while Moises Ballesteros will serve as the DH and bat cleanup. Suzuki returned Wednesday after missing a week with bronchitis, but he has gone just 1-for-8 with two walks and a strikeout in three games since then. While the 31-year-old has posted career highs in home runs (27) and RBI (91) this season, he has only gone deep twice and driven in 14 runs in 51 games since the mid-July All-Star break. Suzuki has hit .243/.325/.458 with 69 runs and five steals in 143 games and 622 trips to the plate this season.

Reed Garrett Recommended for Tommy John Surgery
Reed Garrett (elbow) has been recommended for Tommy John surgery, according to Tim Britton of The Athletic. Garrett already has another offseason surgery scheduled to move a nerve in his right arm. That would only shelve him for four months, but if he has to undergo Tommy John, he'll miss all of next season. While the Mets and the 32-year-old are still exploring other options - including a platelet-rich plasma injection - he's done for 2025 at the very least. Garrett landed on the 15-day injured list twice this season with elbow troubles, most recently on Sept. 15. He made 58 appearances this year and pitched to a 3.90 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP, 64:26 K:BB, 20 holds, and three saves over 55 1/3 innings.

Christian Walker Sitting on Saturday
Christian Walker is out of the lineup against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday. Victor Caratini will fill in for Walker at first base and bat fifth versus right-hander George Kirby. The slumping Walker will take a seat after starting 14 straight games at first. The 34-year-old has hit a subpar .203/.250/.328 with a pair of home runs, eight RBI, and 26:3 K:BB in 17 games this month. The Astros signed Walker, previously with the Arizona Diamondbacks, to a three-year, $60 million contract last winter, but he has underwhelmed in the first season of the deal. Over 147 games and 614 plate appearances, Walker has put together a .233/.295/.401 line with 23 homers, 82 RBI, and 67 runs scored.

Wyatt Langford Remains Out on Saturday
Wyatt Langford (side) is not in the starting lineup against the Miami Marlins on Saturday. Alejandro Osuna will handle left field and hit third versus right-hander Adam Mazur, while Michel Helman will play center and bat ninth. This is the second straight game off for Langford, who's day-to-day with side tightness. The 23-year-old has been on the 10-day injured list twice this season with oblique strains (one on each side). When healthy, Langford has hit an above-average .241/.342/.427 with 21 homers, 61 RBI, 72 runs, and 21 steals in 567 trips to the plate. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday to see if Langford returns to the Rangers' lineup.

Tylor Megill Likely to Require Tommy John Surgery
Tylor Megill (elbow) is going for additional opinions on his injured elbow, but he's likely to require Tommy John surgery, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. That would be a devastating blow for Megill, who will miss the entire 2026 season if he undergoes the procedure. A sprained elbow forced the 30-year-old to the injured list on June 17. While he had been working toward a return, the Mets shut him from throwing after he experienced forearm tightness in a rehab outing on Sept. 7. Megill made 14 starts this year and went 5-5 with a 3.95 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, 89 strikeouts, and 33 walks over 68 1/3 innings.

Sean Manaea to Start on Sunday
Sean Manaea will start on Sunday against the Washington Nationals, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. Right-hander Clay Holmes had been scheduled for the start, but he'll instead follow Manaea in relief. The Mets went with the opposite arrangement on Sept. 16 (Holmes started, Manaea came out of the bullpen) and pulled off an 8-3 win over the San Diego Padres. Manaea threw five frames of one-run ball to earn the victory in his second relief outing of 2025. In 12 appearances (10 starts) this season, the 33-year-old has gone 2-3 with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and 68 strikeouts against 10 walks. He faced the Nationals on Aug. 21 and took the loss after surrendering four earned runs over 4 2/3 innings.

Seth Lugo "a Long Shot" to Return This Season
Seth Lugo (back) is "a long shot" to pitch again this season, according to manager Matt Quatraro. Lugo has been on the 15-day injured list since Sept. 1 with a strained lower back, and after he had a setback in a Sept. 15 bullpen session, it appears his season is over. While Lugo's condition has improved since then, he still hasn't resumed throwing. After finishing as the American League Cy Young runner-up in 2024, the 35-year-old's production has gone backward this season. Lugo has made 26 starts and posted an 8-7 record with a 4.15 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, 125 strikeouts, and 55 walks in 145 1/3 innings.

Nolan Jones Heads to 10-Day Injured List
Nolan Jones (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a strained right oblique and promoted outfielder Petey Halpin from Triple-A Columbus. Jones came off the bench in the Guardians' 6-2 win over the Minnesota Twins on Friday and had to exit after he began feeling discomfort in his side while swinging. The injury will end Jones' regular season, though he may be able to return in October if the Guardians improbably earn a playoff berth. They've won eight in a row to charge within 1 1/2 games of a wild-card spot and 2 1/2 of the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers. Jones played in 136 of the Guardians' games this season and hit a lackluster .211/.296/.304 with five homers, 34 RBI, 34 runs scored, and eight stolen bases in 403 plate appearances.

Jacob Misiorowski Could Move to Bullpen
Jacob Misiorowski is scheduled to start on Wednesday against the San Diego Padres. However, the Brewers could have Misiorowski end the regular season out of the bullpen instead. Manager Pat Murphy said that it's "certainly a consideration" for Misiorowski to work as a reliever next time he pitches. The towering 23-year-old got off to a great start this season after a mid-June promotion, even earning an invitation to the All-Star Game in July, but has struggled in the second half. After spending the first two weeks of August on the 15-day injured list with a shin bruise, he posted a hideous 9.58 ERA in 10 1/3 innings last month. The hard-throwing Misiorowski has been better across four outings in September, though his 4.50 ERA over 20 frames this month is still below average. In 14 starts this season, Misiorowski has gone 5-3 with a 4.38 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, 84 strikeouts, and 28 walks in 63 2/3 innings.

Pablo Lopez Expected to Undergo MRI on Forearm
Pablo Lopez (forearm) exited Friday's 6-2 loss to the Cleveland Guardians with forearm tightness and is expected to undergo an MRI on Saturday, per Matthew Leach of MLB.com. Lopez suffered the injury on a diving play in the third inning, but he stayed in through the fourth and allowed two earned runs on the night. This could bring an early end to an injury-marred season for Lopez, who returned on Sept. 5 after missing three months with a teres major strain in his shoulder. Lopez has made 14 starts this year and gone 5-4 with a 2.74 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP, 73 strikeouts, and 20 walks in 75 2/3 innings.

Wyatt Langford Day-to-Day With Side Tightness
Wyatt Langford (side) was out of the lineup for a 6-4 loss to the Miami Marlins on Friday with "side tightness," manager Bruce Bochy said. Bochy added that Langford is day-to-day and may have to sit out Saturday's game. Side issues often lead to oblique injuries, which have been a problem for Langford this season. He has been on the 10-day IL twice this year with oblique strains (one on each side), giving the Rangers more incentive to play it safe with him. The 23-year-old has set career highs in homers (21) and stolen bases (21) while slashing .241/.342/.427 with 72 runs scored and 61 RBI in 567 plate appearances this season. Alejandro Osuna filled in for Langford in left field on Friday.
