Zhang Mingyang suffered a second-round TKO loss to Johnny Walker in the co-main event of UFC Shanghai on Saturday. After Walker poorly shot for a takedown, Mingyang got on top of Walker and punished him with ground-and-pound. However, in the second round, Walker changed his strategy and started throwing calf kicks, which hurt Mingyang, resulting in him ending up on the canvas. Walker quickly followed up with elbows and ground-and-pound until the referee stopped the fight. In 7:37 of action, Mingyang landed 20 significant strikes. This was Mingyang's first loss in the promotion and his first MMA loss since 2019.

Johnny Walker got back in the win column by defeating Zhang Mingyang via second-round TKO in the main event of UFC Shanghai on Saturday. Walker started this fight terribly and was in real danger in the first round, but he turned things around in the second round. He hurt Mingyang with back-to-back calf kicks, that had Mingyang crumbling to canvas. Walker then punished Mingyang with elbows and ground-and-pound, forcing the referee to stop the fight. In 7:37 of action, Walker landed 50 significant strikes. This was a much-needed win for Walker, who was on a two-fight losing skid.

Former featherweight title challenger Brian Ortega dropped a unanimous decision loss to former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling in the co-main event of UFC Shanghai on Saturday. Ortega was barely able to land any strikes at all in the first two rounds. He tried to push the pace, but it looked like he lost his energy in the fourth round. This fight was mostly on the feet, and Aljamain got the better of Ortega not only on the feet but on the ground as well. In 25 minutes of action, Ortega landed 55 significant strikes. Having lost back-to-back fights, Ortega is now 1-4 in his last five fights.

On Saturday's UFC Shanghai co-main event, former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling got back in the win column by defeating former featherweight title challenger Brian Ortega via unanimous decision. It was a lopsided decision win for Sterling as he got the better of Ortega in the striking department as well as the grappling department. In 25 minutes of action, Sterling landed three takedowns and 124 significant strikes. After beating Ortega, Sterling called for his next title shot, but it might be a bit of a stretch for him to leap to title contention next, given that he lost to Movsar Evloev last December. With the win, Streling improved to 17-5 in the UFC.

Waldo Cortes-Acosta suffered a unanimous decision loss to Sergei Pavlovich on the main card of UFC Shanghai on Saturday. It could be said that Cortes-Acosta got the better of Pavlovich in the first round, but Pavlovich found his timing and pushed the pace in the second and third rounds. Pavlovich had the better striking, but Cortes-Acosta displayed impressive durability. In 15 minutes of action, Cortes-Acosta landed 45 significant strikes. With the loss, Cortes-Acosta dropped to 14-2 as a pro and is now 7-2 in the UFC.

Sergei Pavlovich won back-to-back fights by defeating Waldo Cortes-Acosta by unanimous decision on the main card of UFC Shanghai on Saturday. Cortes-Acosta was the more active fighter through the first half of the fight, but Pavlovich started pushing the pace in the second round and was getting the better of Cortes-Acosta in the striking department. The third round was probably the best round for Pavlovich, whose counterstriking was on point. In 15 minutes of action, Pavlovich landed 61 significant strikes. With the win, Pavlovich improved to 8-3 in the UFC.

Kevin Borjas suffered a unanimous decision loss to Sumudaerji on the main card of UFC Shanghai on Saturday. Borjas didn't do much in this fight; he was extremely tentative, and he wasn't willing to pull the trigger. It was a completely one-sided fight from start to finish as Borjas was picked apart from range for three rounds. In 15 minutes of action, Borjas landed only 16 significant strikes, compared to Sumudaerji, who landed 73. With the loss, Borjas has dropped to 10-4 as a pro and is now 1-3 in the UFC.

Sumudaerji has now won two consecutive fights, defeating Kevin Borjas via unanimous decision on the main card of UFC Shanghai on Saturday. It was an easy night at the office for Sumudaerji, who picked apart Borjas from range en route to a dominant, unanimous decision victory. In 15 minutes of action, Sumudaerji landed 73 significant strikes, compared to Borjas, who landed only 16. With the win, Sumudaerji has improved to 18-7 as a pro and is now 5-4 in the UFC.

Kiefer Crosbie suffered a first-round TKO loss to Taiyilake Nueraji on the UFC Shanghai main card opener on Saturday. Crosbie was dominated on the ground, but as he was trying to get on his feet, Nueraji blasted him with an illegal knee that cut Crosbie below the left eye. As Nueraji got the two-point deduction. Crosbie was given time to recover, but he ultimately opted to continue the fight. In 3:33 of action, Crosbie landed only two significant strikes. Crosbie is now 0-3 in the UFC.

Taiyilake Nueraji was successful in his UFC debut as he finished Kiefer Crosbie via first-round TKO on the UFC Shanghai main card opener. The finish was not without controversy, however. Nueraji was dominating Crosbie on the ground, but as Crosbie was trying to get up, Nueraji launched a strike while his opponent was still down on the ground. As a result, referee Marc Goddard deducted two points from Nueraji, but it mattered little as Nueraji got Crosbie to the ground again and finished him with elbows. In 3:33 of action, Nueraji landed a takedown and 27 significant strikes. With the win, Nueraji has improved to 12-1 as a pro.
