Flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja defended his title for the fourth time after he defeated Kai Kara-France via third-round submission in the co-main event of UFC 317 on Saturday. Pantoja dominated Kara-France from the opening bell, taking him down and nullifying Kara-France's striking. Joshua Van extended his win streak by defeating the former title challenger Brandon Royval via unanimous decision on the main card of UFC 317. It was a back-and-forth fight, but Van may have stolen the fight on the judges' scorecards in the final moments of the fight, as he dropped Royval and almost finished him with ground and pound.
