Ferreira is coming off his first career loss as he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Nursulton Ruziboev after he scored an upset KO win over Gregory Rodrigues in his UFC debut. Ferreira enters the fight as a small favorite as DraftKings has him at a salary of $8,300 while in his two UFC fights, he's averaging 55.12 fantasy points. Hawes is coming off a knockout loss to Ikram Aliskerov back in May, which was his second straight knockout loss to drop him to 4-3 in the UFC. The two were supposed to fight last February, but an injury to Benitez forced him out of the scrap. Since then, Miller lost a decision to Alexander Hernandez, and last time out, he scored a first-round knockout over Jesse Butler. Miller enters his fight as the slight betting favorite, as DraftKings has him at a salary of $8,200. 6 months agoAlexandre Pantoja held on to the UFC flyweight championship with a unanimous decision win over Brandon Royval in the co-main event of UFC 296 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. For his first defense after dethroning former champion Brandon Moreno, Pantoja faced another familiar foe in Royval, whom he already defeated via second-round submission two years ago. Pantoja's relentless grappling attack is what secured him a second victory over Royval, as he converted eight of 14 takedown attempts throughout five rounds. 6 months agoBrandon Royval suffered a unanimous decision loss to Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 296 on Saturday. Royval was last seen in action at April's UFC on ESPN 44 event, where he scored a first-round TKO victory over Matheus Nicolau. This was a rematch, as Pantoja secured a second-round submission finish over Royval back in 2021. Pantoja dragged Royval down to the ground where he constantly threatened Royval with submissions. Royval managed to survive but he just couldn't mount much offense and he spent the majority of the fight stuck on his back. In 25 minutes of action, Royval landed 111 significant strikes.Source: UFC
6 months agoContinuing his truly spectacular run to the welterweight championship, unbeaten Kazakh contender, Shavkat Rakhmonov, achieved a historic feat at UFC 296 by becoming the first fighter to submit Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson. After engaging in a clinch for most of the first round, Rakhmonov took over the fight in the second round with his grappling and managed to secure a rear naked choke with just four seconds left in the second round. In 9:56 of action, Rakhmonov landed a takedown and 28 significant strikes. Rakhmonov is one of the brightest prospects in the sport right now, and is most likely one fight away from a shot at undisputed gold.Source: UFC
6 months agoStephen Thompson suffered a second-round submission loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 296 on Saturday. Thompson did well to remain standing throughout the opening round, hand-fighting to keep Rakhmonov from getting in deep on takedown attempts. Rakhmonov applied the same tactic more successfully in round two, taking Thompson down and eventually securing a rear naked choke with four seconds left on the clock. In 9:56 of action, Thompson landed 16 significant strikes. With the loss, Thompson fell to 17-7-1 overall and 12-7-1 in the UFC.Source: UFC
6 months agoJosh Emmett snapped the first two-fight skid of his career in incredible fashion when he took on Bryce Mitchell at UFC 296. Emmett, who entered tonight's fight with Mitchell in a short-notice reworked clash, had most recently suffered a one-sided unanimous decision loss to Ilia Topuria earlier this summer. This time, however, Emmett knocked out Mitchell less than two minutes into their fight in practically the first exchange. In 1:57 of action, Emmet landed two significant strikes. After a feeling-out process early on, Emmett landed a big overhand right that knocked Mitchell out. 6 months agoPaddy Pimblett improved to 21-3 as a pro and 5-0 in the UFC with a lopsided decision win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 296. Pimblett dropped Ferguson in the first round and nearly finished him. After dominating the second round, the Brit did start to fade but was able to get Ferguson down and controlled him for over three-and-a-half minutes to get a lopsided decision win. With the victory, Pimblett could get someone ranked next time out.Source: UFC
6 months agoTony Ferguson suffered his seventh straight defeat as he dropped a one-sided decision to Paddy Pimblett on Saturday at UFC 296. Ferguson was dropped in the first round and was outstruck 76-to-31 in the first round, as 'El Cucuy' nearly got finished. The second round was much of the same, but as Pimblett started to gas, Ferguson did outstrike Pimblett 41-to-29 in the third round but was controlled for over three minutes in the final frame. Ferguson ended up losing every round on all three judges' scorecards to lose his seventh straight defeat. Whether or not he will get another fight in the UFC is to be seen.Source: UFC
6 months agoColby Covington was fighting for the undisputed welterweight title for the third time as he took on Leon Edwards in the main event of UFC 296. Covington struggled to wrestle Edwards as he went 2-for-10 on his takedowns while he struggled to pressure the champ, as 'Chaos' was on his back foot for most of the fight. Covington did have some success in the fifth round outstriking Edwards 54-to-10 and having over three minutes of control, but that was the only round he won in a one-sided fight. With the loss, Covington is now 0-3 in undisputed title fights and 2-3 in his last five.Source: UFC
