11 months agoFormer title challenger Alex Perez rebounded from three straight defeats on Saturday when he scored a second-round knockout victory over Matheus Nicolau. This was his first fight after 1,421 days of inactivity. After replacing an injured Manel Kape against Nicolau on Saturday night, Perez had a lot on the line after losing three fights in a row. In the second round, he landed a right hook that knocked Nicolau out. In 7:16 of action, Perez landed 28 significant strikes.

Alex Perez In Dire Need Of Victory
11 months agoAlex Perez is taking on Matheus Nicolau on short notice in the UFC Vegas 91 main event this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. Perez (24-8) has recorded three straight losses, going down to Deiveson Figueiredo in a flyweight championship fight in November 2020, followed by defeats to current division champion Alexandre Pantoja and Muhammad Mokaev in July 2022 and March of this year respectively. DraftKings sees Soriano as the favorite with a salary of $7,500. Throughout his UFC career of 10 fights, he averages 70.6 fantasy points per contest. With Steve Erceg challenging for the flyweight title at UFC 301, a win for either Nicolau or Perez could easily earn them a spot challenging for the UFC flyweight championship before the end of the year.

Alex Perez Falls Short In Return
1 year agoAlex Perez suffered a decision loss to Muhammad Mokaev at UFC Vegas 87, which was his first fight since July of 2022. Perez was outstruck 32-to-12 in the first round and was controlled for over a minute. The second and third rounds were both competitive, as Perez officially outstruck him in both rounds, but Mokaev landed the harder shots to get the win. With the loss, Perez is now 24-8 as a pro and on a three-fight losing skid.

Alex Perez Finally Ends Layoff At UFC Vegas 87
1 year agoAlex Perez (24-7) is booked to face Muhammad Mokaev on the main card of UFC Vegas 87 on Saturday. Perez has not fought since July of 2022 when he was quickly submitted by now flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja. That was his first fight since being submitted by Deiveson Figueiredo for the flyweight title. Since losing to Figueiredo, Perez has fought once but has had nine canceled fights. Entering this fight, Perez is the underdog as DraftKings has him at a salary of $7,100. In the UFC, Perez is 6-3 but has been finished in all three losses and has finished four of his six wins.
