Rickie Fowler Tough To Trust At U.S. Open
6 months agoRickie Fowler went on an excellent run to close out the 2023 Tour season, posting seven finishes inside of the top-25 in his final 12 events, including an outright victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. But signs of vintage Rickie have disappeared as of late, as the 35-year-old Tour veteran has only posted one top-20 finish in his last 15 events, including a disastrous missed cut at the Memorial last week as he lost close to 12 total strokes on Thursday and Friday. The incredibly difficult test awaiting at Pinehurst this week will likely not be a "get-right" spot for golfers in poor form, and all signs point to another rocky week ahead for Fowler. While he is historically known to have a solid short game, over the last 24 rounds he ranks 84th in scrambling, 96th in putting, and 89th in bogey avoidance. He does have a solid US Open track record, including a T5 at least year's event to go along with two other finishes inside the top-5 in eight appearances dating back to 2014. But fantasy managers would be wise to weigh Fowler's recent form heavily when evaluating their options in the in the low-$7,000 range on DraftKings this week.
