DJ Herz Racks Up 13 Strikeouts In Saturday's Win Over Miami
6 months agoWashington Nationals left-hander DJ Herz (1-1) allowed one hit and no walks while striking out 13 over six scoreless innings to earn the win in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Miami Marlins. The lefty tossed 84 pitches, landing 57 for strikes. Herz recorded 21 swinging strikes. He cruised to his first major league victory and was perfect except for surrendering a single to Marlins third baseman Jake Burger. Herz became the second pitcher in MLB history to rack up 13 strikeouts and no walks in the first three career starts. The other was retired Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg. Herz owns a 3.77 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts over 14 1/3 innings in 2024. The southpaw will look to build on Saturday's impressive performance in his next start in Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies on Friday.
