3 hours agoCorey Lajoie will start 24th in Sunday's Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway. Despite the fact he gets to start 24th, he was much slower than his qualifying position indicates as he benefited from qualifying with Group A rather than Group B. With a time of 24.130, Lajoie was slower than anyone in Group B, which is something to be mindful of given that there were six drivers slower than him in Group A. Because of his lack of speed on Saturday, and considering this will be his first start at this track at any level, it is recommended that you treat the No. 7 as nothing more than a contrarian play, a move that is being done to save money while also being different from the field.Source: Jayski.com
3 hours agoCarson Hocevar will start 20th in Sunday's Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway. On Friday, Hocevar clocked in with the 21st best time during practice, coming in at a speed of 134.846. Although his speed in qualifying (131.048) was over three miles per hour slower than he showed in practice, it was on par with the same falloff experienced by many drivers, a decline that was almost certainly due to the weather in Newton on Saturday. Regardless of the role that weather did or did not play, his practice and qualifying results are also consistent with how he has performed on short tracks in the Cup Series, as he has an average finish of 22.6 in five starts. Because of his underwhelming history on short tracks, and given that passing will likely be a challenge on Sunday night, it is recommended that you treat the No. 77 as nothing more than a dart throw in DFS this weekend.Source: DriverAverages.com
4 hours agoBubba Wallace will start 16th in this week's Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway. This is the second consecutive week that Wallace will start outside of the Top 15 in the Cup Series. Wallace has three Truck Series appearances at Iowa, where he has two top-10 finishes while having five finishes of 11th or better in six Xfinity Series starts. In 16 races he started so far this season, Wallace has eight top-15 finishes, all at different track types. In practice, Wallace's speeds ranked among the Top 15 fastest in almost all eligible categories. Look for the 23XI Racing driver to finish in the Top 15, making him a solid choice to consider for DFS lineups this week based on his below-average salary.Source: driveraverages.com
4 hours agoFront Row Motorsports driver Michael McDowell will start 22nd in this week's Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway. This is the fourth time this year that McDowell will start outside of the Top 20 and the first time since Martinsville in April. McDowell previously ran at Iowa in the ARCA Menard's Series and the Xfinity Series. In the ARCA Series, McDowell has two top-5 finishes in two starts, while in the Xfinity Series, he has seven top-10 finishes and a best finish of second in eight starts at Iowa. With 16 races completed so far this year, McDowell has seven top-20 finishes, including four of the last five Cup events. In practice, McDowell ranked in the Top 20 in all eligible speed categories and was ninth in overall lap averages. Based on his practice speeds and past experience, look for McDowell to place in the Top 20 and obtain positive Place Differential at Iowa.Source: Driveraverages.com
4 hours agoAfter qualifying for this week's Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway, Joey Logano will start 11th. Logano has no previous starts at Iowa in any previous NASCAR national series. Through 16 races so far this season, Logano has four top-10 finishes, but almost all of them came at shorter tracks or venues with comparable track conditions like Gateway. In practice, Logano ranked among the Top 10 fastest drivers in the 10 and 15 consecutive lap average categories. Due to his low Place Differential upside from his starting position, do not expect Logano to be rostered as much as other top-priced options. Based on his practice speeds and 2024 performance at shorter tracks so far, look for Logano to compete for a top-10 finish and be a sneaky tournament play.Source: Driveraverages.com
4 hours agoFor the Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway, Justin Haley will start in 19th, which is his second-highest starting position of the year and the second time he will start in the top 20. Haley has previous experience racing at Iowa in both the Truck and Xfinity Series. In the Truck Series, Haley has a best finish of 10th in two starts, while he has three top-15 finishes with a best finish of eighth in the Xfinity Series. With 16 races completed so far this season, Haley has five top-20 finishes, including Gateway and Bristol. In practice, Haley ranked 11th in five consecutive lap averages and 14th in 10 consecutive lap averages. Despite not offering as much place-differential upside as some around his salary, he does have better practice speeds and more experience at Iowa. Haley is one of the better value options to consider for all DFS formats this week, and he is capable of competing for a top-15 finish based on practice speeds and his 2024 season-wide performance so far.Source: Driveraverages.com
5 hours agoTy Gibbs will start 27th in this week's Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway. This marks the lowest start position of the season for the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driver and only the second time he will start outside of the Top 20. In the ARCA Menard's Series at Iowa, Gibbs has two wins, three top-5 finishes, and 299 laps led in three starts. After 16 Cup Series races this season, Gibbs has eight top-10 finishes, including three of the last six Cup events. In practice, Gibbs ranked 13th in overall lap averages and 10th in 20 consecutive lap averages. Due to his equipment, practice speeds, and past ARCA experience at Iowa, expect Gibbs to collect plenty of Place Differential and compete for a top-10 finish as one of the best DFS picks of the week.Source: Driveraverages.com

5 hours agoHendrick Motorsports driver William Byron will start fourth in this week's Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway. This is the 10th time this year that the No. 24 Chevrolet driver will start inside the Top 10 and the fourth time in the last five races. Byron has previous experience in Iowa since he had one win in his only Truck Series start at the site, while in the Xfinity Series, he has had two top-10 finishes, including a win in two starts. Through 16 races so far this season, Byron has three wins, nine top-10 finishes, and led laps in seven different events. In practice, Byron ranked eighth in 10 consecutive lap averages. Byron is expected to place in the Top 10 based on his practice speeds. However, considering his low Place Differential upside, Byron is best suited to tournament lineups or as a potential lower-rostered alternative compared to the top favorites.Source: Driveraverages.com
5 hours agoIn Iowa Corn 350 qualifying at Iowa Speedway, Kyle Busch gained a starting position of seventh. This will be the sixth time Busch will start inside the Top 10 this season. The No. 8 Richard Childress Racing driver only raced at Iowa previously in the Xfinity Series, where he has one win and two finishes of second or better in two starts. After 16 races so far this year, Busch has eight top-15 finishes, including five inside the Top 10. In practice, Busch ranked 10th in 10 consecutive lap averages, showcasing a car that is better on longer green flag runs. Despite Busch's inconsistency with three top-10 finishes in the last eight Cup events and little Place Differential upside, he is a driver to consider for tournament lineups based on past Iowa experience and his practice speeds, indicating that he will compete for a top-10 finish. 5 hours agoIn qualifying for this week's Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway, Alex Bowman obtained a starting position of 33rd. This is Bowman's lowest starting position of the year so far in all Cup events, including exhibition and non-points races. Although this will be Bowman's first Cup race at Iowa, he does have a win in the ARCA Menard's Series and two top-10 finishes in the Xfinity Series at the site. The No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports driver is one of the most consistent drivers of the year, regardless of track type, as he has nine top-10 finishes through 16 races. In practice, Bowman showcased that he has one of the best cars in the field this week, as he had top-5 speeds through all eligible categories. With massive Place Differential upside, top-notch equipment, and faster practice speeds than most, expect Bowman to place in the Top 10, making him highly recommended for all DFS formats.Source: Driveraverages.com
