1 year agoThe San Diego Padres placed right-hander Yu Darvish (elbow) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to Aug. 26) on Monday with right-elbow inflammation and recalled right-hander Matt Waldron from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. Darvish has really struggled in his last three starts, allowing 13 earned runs on 23 hits (two homers) while walking three and striking out 16 in 16 innings, so the reeling Padres will shut him down for at least the next two weeks. If the Friars fall any further out of contention, there's a chance we may not see Darvish pitch again in 2023. Either left-hander Rich Hill or Waldron are the most likely candidates to take Darvish's spot in the starting rotation moving forward.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
