Padres Interested In Madison Bumgarner
5 years agoThe San Diego Padres have interest in starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner and will meet with his agent, Ed Cerulo, at the general manager meetings this week. The Padres have also been connected to starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg, while Bumgarner is attracting interest from a handful of teams, including the Phillies and Yankees. The veteran southpaw, now 30 years old, has a ton of miles on his arm and isn't the same dominant pitcher he was when he was named to four straight All-Star teams from 2013-16, but he can still get it done. MadBum went 9-9 with a 3.90 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and had 203 strikeouts in 207 2/3 innings over 34 starts in 2019. Staying in the National League West and in a pitcher-friendly park like Petco would have its obvious benefits.
