2 years agoThe San Diego Padres have plenty of offseason needs -- first base, a starting pitcher, bullpen, bench -- but major-league sources continue to suggest that they are indeed in the shortstop market, possibly even for Trea Turner. General manager A.J. Preller traded Turner to the Washington Nationals as a player to be named in 2015 and has coveted Turner ever since. To make it work, Ha-Seong Kim could move to second, Jake Cronenworth could go to first and Fernando Tatis Jr. could go to left field. But the Padres are already very close to the first luxury-tax threshold and may not be able to outbid the Philadelphia Phillies.
