Packers Considering Trading Up In First Round?
4 years agoGreen Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst admitted on Monday that there is temptation to try and trade up from No. 29 overall in the first round of this Thursday's NFL draft. "It's always tempting for me," Gutekunst said. "I think when you're sitting at [No.] 29 and watching those kind of players come off the board that you've spent so much time studying and kind of thinking about how they could affect your football team, it's always tempting." Green Bay traded up four spots to take quarterback Jordan Love late in the first round last year as the potential heir apparent to Aaron Rodgers. However, Love didn't help the Packers at all in 2020. This year, Gutekunst is more focused on drafting a first-round difference-maker in Year 1 after the team came up short in the NFC Championship game the last two years.
