Orelvis Martinez Flexing Muscles At Low-A
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays shortstop prospect Orelvis Martinez went 3-for-5 with two doubles on Saturday. The 19-year-old infielder has seen 17 of his 37 hits go for extra bases during his first taste of full-season ball. Formerly a top international signee, Martinez has always flashed above-average power for his age and slugged seven home runs in 40 Rookie ball games in 2019 at the age of 17. He has five long balls in 2021 through 32 games. The young infielder's power display has come at a cost, though. He has a 28% strikeout rate, although he's producing a respectable walk rate of almost 9%. Martinez is ranked by Rotoballer as the seventh-best shortstop prospect for dynasty baseball.
