Nolan Arenado Opting Into The Rest Of His Contract
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado has informed the team that he will opt into the remainder of his five-year, $144 million contract, according to a league source. Arenado was facing his second and final opt-out clause in the deal, and the Cardinals were optimistic throughout the 2022 season that the seven-time All-Star would choose to return. Since he was acquired by the Cardinals in a trade before the 2021 season, Arenado has made two All-Star teams and is in the running for his 10th straight Gold Glove. The 31-year-old slugger also has two straight seasons of 30-plus homers and 100 RBI and could also win his fifth Silver Slugger award. Arenado will remain a high-end fantasy third baseman heading into the 2023 season.
