6/6:St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said there is no concern over starting pitcher Carlos Martinez's shaky start on Tuesday. Martinez was returning from several weeks on the disabled list with a strained lat. Apparently, Martinez was "throwing softer" on purpose in fear of re-injuring his lat. The team, however, was not aware of this strategy. Matheny said, "We go with the information they give us. We can't read their minds." It doesn't seem like much of an issue, and Martinez will likely throw harder his next time on the mound against the Reds.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
