9 months agoKansas City Royals rookie second baseman Nicky Lopez singled in Sunday's game against the White Sox to continue to pull himself out of a prolonged slump. The 24-year-old is only hitting .213 since his call-up in mid-May, but a big chunk of that was a 4-for-43 stretch that extended until this weekend. Since Friday, Lopez has gone 4-for-15, so hopefully it's the start of some happier times for the youngster. With KC firmly out of competition for any playoff races, he should continue to get an extended look with the big-league club to see if he can catch up to major league pitching.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
