Nicklas Backstrom Showing Game-By-Game Improvement
7 years agoWashington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom was hampered by a hand injury, causing him to miss four games, including the first three of the Eastern Conference Finals. His first two appearances were a bit slow, posting no points and rating minus-one in each. Lars Eller’s lack of discipline opened up a top-six spot for Backstrom. Backstrom finished the series much better than he started with a goal and two assists in the final two games. One thing to note here is that he never lost his spot on the team’s top power play. In his return to action, he logged more than five minutes of power play time on ice on Washington’s four power plays. He is trending upward, but owners may want to see if he continues his late-series success Monday before giving him the DFS start.
