8 months agoThe Boston Red Sox placed right-hander Nick Pivetta (forearm) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 6) on Tuesday due to a flexor strain and recalled left-hander Brennan Bernardino from the minors in a corresponding move. It's tough news for the Red Sox and Pivetta, who had given up just one run with 13 strikeouts and only one walk in 11 innings over his first two starts of the season. Hopefully, he'll only be away from the team for the minimum amount of time, but flexor-tendon injuries can end up being pretty serious. Bernardino will give the Red Sox another left-handed arm in the bullpen. It's unclear who will replace Pivetta in Boston's starting rotation, but names like Josh Winckowski, Cooper Criswell and Chase Anderson could all be options.
