1 year agoPhiladelphia 76ers forward/center Paul Reed has a big fan in new head coach Nick Nurse, who believes the 24-year-old can do a lot more for the team. "He's had a great summer -- amazing. He's really worked," Nurse said of Reed on Patrick Beverley's podcast. "From the moment I got the job, he got in the shooting program and he's been on it. He's in shape. Will he play with (Joel) Embiid? For sure. I don't think that that's a question. He's going to be out there playing hard, he's going to be defending, and he's going to be doing probably more than he's done before. I think he's ready to take a step up. He can play." During his three-year career, Reed has so far averaged only 9.3 minutes per game, producing 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds. Life behind Embiid has been difficult for many bigs in Philadelphia, but with Nurse promising Reed minutes alongside him, the former G League MVP could indeed be ready to make a big step up and ignite his NBA career.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
