Philadelphia Eagles center Nick Gates (groin) has been placed on Injured Reserve on Saturday. Gates has been dealing with a lingering groin injury for some time, so the Eagles decided to move him to the IR. They needed to do this in order to free up a roster spot for defensive end Brandon Graham (triceps) who was activated from the IR on Saturday. The absence of Gates shouldn't make much of an impact on the Eagles ahead of their Super Bowl matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Gates is the backup center and has only appeared in nine games this season. Starting center Cam Jurgens has been removed from the injury report, so Gates wasn't likely going to play anyway. However, the Eagles will lack depth on their o-line ahead of the big game.--Andy Webb
