Nick Foles 2020 Outlook: A Low-End QB2 If He Wins QB Competition In Chicago
5 years agoNick Foles has pretty much seen it all in his eight years in the NFL after being taken in the third round by the Eagles in 2012 out of Arizona. He was a Pro Bowler in his second season, looked like he was about ready to wash out of the league in one-year stints with the Rams and Chiefs and then guided the Eagles to an improbable Super Bowl victory over the Patriots and was named the MVP. Last year he was a massive free-agent bust for the Jaguars after breaking his collarbone in Week 1. Foles played in just four games and was benched in favor of a rookie QB upon his return. The 31-year-old has new life after a trade to Chicago, where he's fully expected to win the open QB competition with former first-rounder Mitchell Trubisky. St. Nick has a bigger arm and more upside than Trubisky, but he also has familiarity with head coach Matt Nagy and most of his offensive staff from his days with the Eagles and Chiefs. Because Chicago may not officially name Foles the starter until the end of the preseason, he could come as a decent value as a low-end QB2 in fantasy drafts.
