The New York Islanders stop another talented defenseman sliding down the draft board as they select Bode Wilde with the 41st overall pick. Wilde was projected to be a mid-to-late first-round selection but fell potentially due to concerns about his consistency and responsibility in his own end. At 6'4" and 198 pounds, Wilde has the size to compliment his hard-nosed style of play and should help ease his transition to the NHL. Wilde is also comfortable carrying the puck up on the rush, and likely has a regular power-play role in the future due to his strong right-handed shot.
