Nationals Won't Trade Max Scherzer To The Mets
3 years agoA source close to the Washington Nationals situation with starting pitcher Max Scherzer said there is "no chance" that they would trade the veteran right-hander to the division-rival New York Mets, no matter the offer. Scherzer has a no-trade clause, so he must be willing to waive it to join a team of his liking, and he reportedly prefers to go to the West Coast. This could make it a three-team bidding war between the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres for his services. The 37-year-old remains a fantasy ace and could become even more attractive if he's dealt by this week's deadline, which looks increasingly likely. The three-time Cy Young winner has a solid 2.83 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 142/25 K/BB in 105 innings spanning 18 starts in 2021.
