Nationals Sign Zach Davies To Minor-League Deal
10 months agoThe Washington Nationals signed free-agent right-hander Zach Davies to a minor-league deal with an invitation to big-league spring training on Saturday. The 31-year-old veteran has been in the big leagues for nine years and has a career 4.36 ERA. He spent the last two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, going 4-10 with a 5.19 ERA (4.74 FIP) and 1.43 WHIP with 91 walks and 174 strikeouts in 216 2/3 innings over 45 starts. Davies fell apart last year, posting a bloated 7.00 ERA and 1.66 WHIP with 39 walks and 72 strikeouts in 82 1/3 innings over 18 starts for the Snakes. He'll be attempting to win a roster spot with the Nats in camp this year, but even if he joins the team's starting rotation at some point, Davies should be ignored in mixed fantasy leagues.
