Nationals Expected To Decline Option On Nelson Cruz
2 years agoWashington Nationals designated hitter Nelson Cruz recently underwent surgery to repair a vision problem in his left eye. The 42-year-old missed the final 20 games of the regular season due to blurred vision. That being said, the Nationals have reportedly decided to decline his $16 million option for the 2023 season. Instead, the Nats will pay Cruz a $3 million buyout and move on from the veteran slugger. Cruz hit .234/.313/.337 with 10 long balls and 64 RBI this season in Washington. He intends to play next season, but it doesn't sound like it's going to be in Washington.
