Nathan Eovaldi Nearing Rehab Assignment
2 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) threw 65 pitches in a four-inning simulated game at Fenway Park on Sunday morning. If he comes out of that session with no complications or setbacks, he will likely make a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Worcester on Friday. It could put him in line to make a start for the Red Sox during their next homestand against the Baltimore Orioles and then a final 2022 outing in the last series of the season against the Tampa Bay Rays. Eovaldi has made just 18 starts this year due to injuries, and he's gone 5-3 with a 4.15 ERA (4.49 FIP), a 1.26 WHIP, 96 strikeouts and just 18 walks in 99 2/3 innings pitched. He hasn't pitched in a big-league game since Aug. 12, so he'll be much riskier in his first start back for fantasy managers still playing for a championship.
