Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly (knee) has been placed on long-term Injured Reserve after he was hurt in Monday's defeat to the Islanders. He's dealing with a left knee ailment and reports are suggesting that Rielly will be out of commission for four to six weeks. Going on the long-term Injured Reserve means that he can't return before sitting out at least 10 games and 24 days. Rielly has yet to score in 20 contests this season, but he is fourth among all defensemen with 16 assists. Toronto can't catch a break at the back and will be without another blue-liner for a long stretch. Mark Giordano and Justin Holl formed the new first defensive pairing in Tuesday's practice, while Rasmus Sandin is set to take over Rielly's spot on the first power-play unit.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
