Mike Trout Resting, Zach Neto Returns Thursday
2 years agoLos Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is not in the team's starting lineup on Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Meanwhile, rookie shortstop Zach Neto (finger) is back at shortstop and is hitting leadoff against Cardinals right-hander Jack Flaherty. Trout is getting a normal day of rest after starting each of the team's last 11 games. In his place, Brett Phillips will roam center field and bat in the nine-hole on Thursday. Neto left Wednesday's contest early after getting hit by a pitch on his finger during a bunt attempt, but it wasn't a serious injury and he's back in there a day later. The 22-year-old rookie is hitting .267 (16-for-60) with four doubles, five RBI and a stolen base in his first 18 major-league games.
