Mike Clevinger To Undergo Surgery On Knee
5 years agoCleveland Indians starting pitcher Mike Clevinger (knee) will undergo surgery on Friday after he suffered a partial tear of the medial meniscus in his left knee while working out at spring training this week. Clevinger has been on crutches, and a timetable for his return will be established after the surgery. The 29-year-old right-hander made just 21 starts for the Tribe in 2019 due to injuries, but he was money when he was healthy, going 13-4 with a 2.71 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 169 strikeouts (12.1 K/9) in 126 innings. He has a career 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings and can be a top-10 fantasy ace when he's healthy. This injury is likely to keep him out to begin the season, but we'll have a better idea of how much time he'll miss either later Friday or Saturday.
