Michael Soroka Recalled And Starting On Friday
1 year agoThe Atlanta Braves recalled right-hander Michael Soroka from Triple-A Gwinnett, and he will start on Friday in the series opener against the Miami Marlins. The Braves also selected the contract of infielder Charlie Culberson from the minors and optioned catcher Chadwick Tromp to Gwinnett. To make room on the 40-man roster, left-hander Dylan Lee (shoulder) was moved to the 60-day injured list. Soroka, an All-Star in 2019 before injuries struck, allowed nine runs in 9 2/3 innings in his first two starts for the Braves this year, but he posted a 1.42 ERA and 0.79 WHIP with 18 K's in three starts (19 innings) at Gwinnett after being sent down on June 5. If the 25-year-old can throw more strikes and avoid the long ball, he could be worth a pickup in deep-mixed fantasy leagues.
