Michael Fulmer Will Undergo Tommy John Surgery
It was reported Tuesday that Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Michael Fulmer (elbow) would likely need Tommy John surgery, but Fulmer had intended to seek a third opinion prior to making a decision. Now, the team has confirmed that Fulmer will indeed undergo the procedure, ending any hope of the former Rookie of the Year pitching in the 2019 season. Fulmer was 3-12 in 2018 with a 4.69 ERA. His injury could potentially open a door for Daniel Norris or Spencer Turnbull, who will both be vying for the fifth spot in the rotation.
